Training Honduran Pastors in Developing a Disciple-Making Strategy

November 2, 2023

Alan Raughton, Nashville First’s Pastor of Christian Education & Discipleship, recently spent 4 days in Choluteca, Honduras training and equipping pastors and church leaders in how to develop a disciple-making strategy for their churches. These 15 church leaders are primarily lay leaders from villages and small communities who traveled hours to equip themselves to lead their congregations. Alan wrote and developed the content for the class and translated everything into Spanish for the leaders.

“All but one of the pastors were lay people,” Alan said. “These men and women gave up their job—and any income they would have earned—in order to travel hours to receive the training and education to disciple their people.

The commitment, joy, and love of Christ seen in the lives of these men and women was refreshing and encouraged me as I was with them. Worship was an experience of sincere prayer and singing that testified to their personal walk with Christ. I’m grateful for the time and investment of Nashville First in the lives of these leaders and their churches.”
