PRAYING FOR THE PEOPLE OF THE UKRAINE

Nashville First’s ESL Ministry Builds Friendships in Ukraine

Several Nashville First members have become friends with a Ukrainian in the last two years. They’ve been engaging them via Zoom to study English as a second language (ESL) and to participate in an evangelistic Bible Study. Just two days before the Russian invasion, the team completed one hundred and two sessions. This week’s session was postponed, and by faith we will resume when the Lord providentially makes it possible. Besides the lessons, some members became a “conversation partner” with one of the Ukrainians and have a 30 minute, one-to-one, video chat each week. That is where the loving friendships have flourished. Obviously everyone is very concerned and would appreciate prayers for our ESL partners and the entire nation.

How to Pray:

  • Almost every Ukrainian has asked for a miracle intervention of God to save them
  • Ask God to provide comfort and put peace in their hearts
  • Pray for safety for those remaining in country or attempting to flee
  • Ask for a “divine appointment” to meet a Ukrainian so you can show concern, love, care, and pray  with them for their countrymen

Thank you to our current Nashville First ESL volunteers: Richard Flatbush, Ruth Hoffman, Billy Hoffman, Fred Linkenhoker, Andrea Overby, Helen Owens, Sharon Roberts, and Sharon Sims.
