Student Minister Update from Pastor Thomas
May 29, 2025
First Family,
I look forward to introducing you to Adam and Kendall Cushing. It’s been a joy to connect with Adam and to learn about his ministry experiences in Raleigh at The Summit Church. His wife Kendall is an experienced respiratory therapist. Together, they are fun, easy-going, and very personable people. I think they will be wonderful additions to our ministry team at Nashville First.
God keeps us in the palm of his hands. While our search for a Student Minister took longer than some of us desired, we have remained faithful in our commitment to trust God’s timing and wait on who we discern to be God’s person for the appointed time. Over the last few weeks, Adam has received unanimous recommendations from a screening committee, the Personnel Committee, and the trustees backing these recommendations with their full support as well. It’s a rebuilding season for our Student Ministry, and Adam will need our prayers, encouragement, and support. I look forward to watching Adam and Kendall both being cheered on by this church as they take up their new calling here in Nashville later in the month of June.
Please join me in praying ahead of their visit on June 6-8. Should we sense God’s leading of the Cushing family to join us in Nashville, then we will affirm the Holy Spirit’s direction with a church vote in the June 8 Members’ Lunch. They are eager to begin their ministry among us and are planning to start work on June 15 and to be around for Vacation Bible School. Exciting days.
Grateful,
Thomas West, PhD
