Kim Hester Retirement

August 24, 2023

Kim Hester has been a faithful servant to our church for over 36 years. She will be retiring at the end of the month with plans to spend more time with her husband, Jimmy, and family.

It has been our distinct pleasure to experience the wonderful gifts of music God has given Kim to share with our congregation as Church Pianist for the past thirty years. Kim is a consummate musician, dedicated minister-musician, a true servant of Christ, a trusted colleague, and along with her sensitive spirit has immensely blessed us in our worship and praise to the Lord.

Kim shares that serving Nashville First Baptist as a Church Pianist “is a calling that has brought much joy and fulfillment through weekly worship services, special events, and accompanying our Sanctuary Choir. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life and I will always be grateful for the opportunity that has been mine to minister in this place.”

Kim has also worked on our church staff as an Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor for almost 19 years. She began under Dan Francis and then worked alongside Frank Lewis. She stepped away from the role for a few years and came back to assist Darrell Gwaltney during the interim period. Kim will continue to help out the church staff in a limited capacity until a new Senior Pastor and his assistant are hired.

We are delighted that Kim will continue to be a valuable member of our church and ministry through singing in the Alto Section of our Sanctuary Choir, supplying at the piano, consulting with us on our Keyboards at Christmas presentations, and lending her accompanying skills to soloists and ensembles from time to time.

A reception in Mrs. Hester’s honor will be held in the foyer following Morning Worship this Sunday, August 27. Please join us in expressing appreciation to the one and only Kim Hester for her joyous spirit and service at Nashville First Baptist Church.
