Thank you for your faithful stewardship to our church in 2019. As look to what God has planned for Nashville First in 2020, here are some items to consider for the end of the year:

Online Giving

If you would like to use a credit or debit card to make a contribution, please click here. This link will direct you to the Realm site where you can make a donation. Mobile giving is also available through your smart phone or tablet using the QR code on our church bulletins. Electronic contributions must be completed by 11:59 p.m., Dec. 31, 2019.

Year-End Donation Guidelines

Remember to deliver or mail (and postmark) checks to the church on or by Dec. 31, 2019, in order to claim a charitable contribution for 2019. In compliance with the IRS, checks placed in the church offering during the first worship service Jan. 5, 2020, will not qualify for a charitable contribution in 2019, even if the check is predated to 2019 or was actually written in 2019. Please keep this in mind as you make your year-end gifts.

Stock Donation Procedure

For donations of stock, the procedure is as follows: Advise your stockbroker you are transferring stock to Nashville First as a donation. Our account is with Morgan Stanley, and our broker is Hugh Sloan. Our account number is 471-071165, First Baptist Church, DTC #0015. Please contact Wendy Peppers in Hugh’s office at 615-298-6504 with the name of the stock and number of shares you are transferring as well as your instructions for the distribution of the proceeds. This will ensure you get proper credit for tax purposes.

Qualified Charitable Contribution

The PATH Act, made permanent at the end of 2015, allows taxpayers who are age 70 ½ or older to make direct contributions from their IRAs to qualified charitable organizations such as Nashville First, up to $100,000 per year. If you take advantage of this opportunity, you can’t claim a charitable or other deduction for the contributions, but the amounts aren’t considered taxable income and can be used to satisfy your required minimum distributions. To qualify for the exclusion from Income for IRA contributions for a tax year, you need to arrange a direct transfer by the IRA trustee to an eligible charity by Dec. 31, 2019. Please consult your tax advisor if you are interested in this form of giving.
