Get to Know the Wests

Thomas and Elizabeth are both from Montgomery, Alabama, and grew up attending First Baptist Church of Montgomery. They are high school and college sweethearts and were married in August 2009 after many years of dating. Thomas and Elizabeth spent nearly ten years
in Raleigh, North Carolina, before moving to London
in June 2019.

Elizabeth’s favorite role is being Thomas’ wife and ministry partner and a loving mother to Perry and Shepherd. Leading up to this season, Elizabeth studied Finance at Auburn University. She worked as a buyer and merchandiser in the fine jewelry industry in Raleigh and on the finance team of a London-based medical non-profit. While in London, her heart for serving others has been seen through volunteering, hosting events, and serving around her children’s school. She finds joy in baking and taking walks with a good audiobook. Elizabeth looks forward to connecting and growing in community with the women and families of Nashville First Baptist.

Thomas loves to spend time with family and friends. He loves to play golf and wants to give pickleball a try as well. He also enjoys reading about history, theology, philosophy, and culture. After hours you can find him snacking and watching an episode of The West Wing with Elizabeth.

The Wests have two children, Perry and Shepherd. Perry is 10 years old and loves taking the family dog Lulu on walks, knitting, art, and making friendship bracelets. Perry came to faith in Jesus earlier this year and was baptized by her dad in October. Perry was elected to the student council this year and has begun piano lessons.

Shepherd is 7 years old and loves football (he refuses to call it soccer), tennis, Hot Wheels, making amazing Lego creations, and snack time. Shepherd is full of energy and brings fun wherever he goes.

As a family, the Wests enjoy exploring new places. Some of their favorite places they have visited while living in London are Italy, Greece, Belgium, and Scotland. Game nights and kitchen dance parties are weekly occurrences in the West house. On the weekends, you will usually find the Wests on a walk, in a museum, or relaxing in a local park.
