Nashville First Baptist Church entrusts a body of lay leaders, called trustees, to collaborate with the members, pastors, staff, deacons and standing committees to oversee the work of the church. The nine trustees hold staggered terms.
Per the church by-laws, a Trustee Selection Committee was convened at the beginning of the fourth quarter of 2024.
The Trustee Selection Committee hereby nominates and submits the following individuals for trustee service from January 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2027:
- Linda Leathers Tullock
- Barry Roberson
- Jason Shull

Linda Leathers Tullock
Linda joined Nashville First as our Minister to Single and Young Adults in 1999, where she was an integral member of our church staff. Along with a group of “wild praying women” from our church, she helped to launch The Next Door and served as CEO for 16 years. Linda is now President of the Operation Andrew Group in Middle Tennessee which brings churches together in three key initiatives: public education, pastor engagement, and young adult mentoring. She and her husband, Gary, are leaders in the Crossroads Department. She has served one term as a Trustee for Nashville First and several terms as a Deacon. She has a true servant’s heart and a positive personality.
Barry Roberson
Barry has been a member of Nashville First since 1993 and has served in numerous leadership positions in our church over the years, including Church Officer/Financial Representative, Deacon/Vice Chairman, and Director of the Young Married Sunday School Department. He has also served on the Finance Committee, Early Childhood Education Committee, and is an active member of our Safety and Security Team. Barry and his wife, Susie, are leaders in the Matthew 18:20 Connect Group and he helps teach in The Heritage Class. He previously taught in the Student Ministry. Barry is employed as a Director with Citi Community Capital, specializing in financing Multifamily Affordable Housing developments. He is a 24-year retired veteran of the Tennessee Army National Guard and served overseas in Iraq. Barry is on the Board of Directors, serving as Treasurer, for The Joseph School, a non-profit organization located in Cabaret, Haiti, whose mission is to educate and equip Haitian children for servant leadership. This organization was founded by members of Nashville First. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Rooftop Nashville, who keep Nashvillians housed by avoiding eviction. They are one of Nashville First’s ministry partners with offices on our campus.
Jason Shull
Jason was born in Nashville and baptized in our church in 1983. He has served in numerous leadership positions, including Deacon Chairman, Personnel Committee Chairman, Nominating Committee Chairman, and Deacon Nomination Committee Chairman. He is a committed member of our Safety and Security Team. Jason and his wife, Katie, are leaders in the JOY Connect Group, where they have been members for the past 6 years. He has previously taught in the Student Ministry for 18 years and served as a Youth Choir sponsor. He has served on Mission Trips to New York, Thailand, and Hawaii. Jason is active in the community and led numerous charitable initiatives such as serving as Chairman of the Willis Foundation and volunteering as a reading tutor at J.C. Napier Elementary School. He currently is a Sales Engineering Manager covering the healthcare industry technology.
Voting for nominated Trustees will occur from Tuesday, Nov. 12 to Friday, Dec. 6 at noon. Church members are encouraged to vote online or may request a written ballot from the church office. Each trustee must be voted on individually according to church by-laws. To be selected, a nominee must receive at least two-thirds (2/3rds) approval by the church members voting. All votes must be registered by noon on Dec. 6. Results will be announced at the Dec. 8 Member’s Lunch.
Trustees
The trustees with terms expiring on December 31, 2024, are Steve Goins, Wilburn Honeycutt, and Linda Leathers Tullock. The other trustees, David Clay, Brad Dunn, Wes Turner, Andrew Cotten, Joy Harris, and Andrea Overby will continue their terms into next year.
